This machine has been a work in progress for about the last two years and is nearing end of development. It's composed of a custom control interface, reused drill press base and spindle, and a custom machined X-Y table.

Above you can see how I welded an X-Y axis assembly to the base of the drill press itself. The drill press provided for a good starting place since it contained the Z axis assembly pre-built and just needed some modification for computer control.
The above image is a picture of the machine before I put up a frame/guard assembly around it to protect from flying objects and keep the mess confined to a small space. Below is an image of how it is situated now.

As you can see I still have not finished the sides and door for the frame. This will come sometime when I have time to cut some plywood or put up a flame and impact resistant fabric of some sort. I have plans to put in a hinged plexiglass door to seal the front of the machine and to provide easy access.
